01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Cristian is a well-rounded athlete (OF/RHP) who showed very well during his time in Arizona. In the OF, he gets his (6'3"/210) frame moving quickly. He works into position behind the ball, plays through it well and has a smooth transfer to fire strong throws. Offensively, this righty steps into the box with an aggressive approach looking to swing it. He takes a hack at pitches in the zone with plus bat speed as the ball jumps off of his barrel (exit velocity = 89 mph). On the mound, this tall righty works to a controlled balance point and drives off of the rubber, downhill toward the dish. FB still sits in the mid 80's while showing good run. Slider shows to be an effective out pitch getting a lot of swing and miss. He fills up the zone and throws strikes with all 3 of his pitches. Cristian possesses the tools of a high level type player. He has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Cristian is a very talented athlete who shined during his time in Pirate City. He has solid skill-set that makes him fun to watch. In the OF, he works lightly on the balls of his feet and tracks down fly-balls in the gaps with speed. He has athletic actions and a smooth transfer/exchange working through the ball and gaining ground toward his target. He has a cannon for an arm, firing strong throws (89 mph) with carry into his target. Runners will not want to test him. At the plate - Cordero has an athletic/balanced setup with rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he whips the barrel with speed and connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he sprays the gaps. As a pitcher, Cristian steps onto the rubber with a purpose. He maintains fluid tempo and drives off the rubber, downhill toward the dish. FB cracks the mitt at 85 mph as he works the ball in and out. Breaking ball compliments FB well while showing 11/5 shape with sharp/late break, showing to be a solid 'K' pitch. Base runners have a hard time getting leads/jumps as he varies his looks well while having a quick pickoff move. Cristian is a versatile player who makes things happen when he steps onto the field. His tools will play at a high level.

02/15/2015 - College PREP - Monticello, IA Cristian is a solid, athletic OF/RHP that will graduate in 2016 that projects best in the OF at the next level but has an upside on the mound. At the plate is where he shows best, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with superior power potential through an athletic / squared approach. Hands are quick, and aggressive, working through a level swing path as he generates bat speed and creates extension through the ball. He works to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields and has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. Defensive abilities in the OF are solid as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his quick / athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls, playing through well, and covers a lot of ground, displaying range. Throws are accurate, with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly, displaying proper footwork. On the mound, delivery is repeatable as he uses his lower half well and allows his arm action to work long and well to the plate through an over the top arm slot. Fastball shows a range of 77-82 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break with sliderish action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for but needs to develop more movement on pitch. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. Cristian has a promising future on the diamond and will catch the eyes of the collegiate players with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
