Official Scouting Report

  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

06/22/2019 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Cristian showed on the mound and at 3B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he has strong/centered balance with fluid rhythm. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path with lower half working well through the swing. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 72-75 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

12/09/2018 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Cristian is a tall, athletic RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and works in line to his target. Fastball showed a range of 77-78 mph with late heavy action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup is his best off speed pitch as he maintains arm speed and shows a feel for the pitch with late sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Cristian has an upside on the bump and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his abilities as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
