01/26/2020 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Cross continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean actions. Feet are active as he attack balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

11/12/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Wildomar (Los Angeles), CA Cross is an athletic C/2B with an advanced skill set. Defensively behind the plate, he gives a solid target and tracks pitches well with his eyes. He has a clean transfer and makes strong throws to his target. At 2B, he hustles with active footwork into an athletic fielding position on GB's. He funnels with soft hands and gets rid of the ball with a quick release. As a hitter, Cross shows an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He stays balanced as he whips his barrel fast through the zone and drives pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Low setup
2. Quick footwork
3. Develop soft hands
Infield
1. Work around the GB
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Play through more
Offense

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
