Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

09/26/2021 - All-In Membership - Lansing, KS Cruz is a 3B/RHP who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame athletic build with strength present and plenty of room to develop. In the infield, he starts with a good prep and fields from low to high. Showed ability to play through baseball with good glove presentation and ball sticks in pocket. Clean exchange into a short arm action as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot. He creates good momentum to target with an arm velocity up to 72mph. On the mound, he has a simple and repeatable delivery. He gets to a good balance and takes the proper stride length down the mound. Has a clean arm stroke with ability to hit with his off-speed pitches. He attacks hitters with a FB that sat 60-60mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, a cutter that mimics his CB but with more velo, and a developing changeup. At the plate, he hits from an upright and open stance. Has quiet actions and fluid timing with center balance at contact. Some looseness to hand and an ability to get on-plane early. Hit line drives consistently to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 77mph. With another 4 years of continued growth and development, he should have a bright future on the baseball field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
