10/10/2018 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Cullen continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. At 1B, he is a tremendous defender as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. He moves well laterally and shows a plus backhand. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Hands / feet work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and carry on his throws. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat, covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a short / direct swing path as he stays inside the ball utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing, displaying gap to gap power. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be. He is a gamer on the diamond.

07/25/2018 - Under Armour Southwest Championships 17U, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Cullen was timed at his fastest 60 to date at 6.95 during the UA Southwest Championship. He is a solid 1st baseman with a good stick. Defensively, Cullen has quick feet, good feel for the bag, and he fields low and athletically. He has soft soft/presentable hands, good instincts, and a strong arm with carry to his target. At the plate, Cullen is a strong hitter with an open stance, good balance, and fast bat speed. He has a direct barrel, makes hard/consistent contact, and has power into the gaps. Cullen can also pitch; he has a clean arm circle, good extension, and a complete finish toward his target.

06/15/2018 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Cullen continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Mental makeup is tremendous as this young man has a great personality and does all the little details to make things better. He truly is a leader by example. On the field, he plays hard, always stays positive and has the tools to play at a high level. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Footwork around the bag is solid and he is a quality receiver. Ex-change is clean with strong throws. He will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (89 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it showing gap-to-gap pow-er. Cullen has a big upside and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Cullen continues to shine on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 66-70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Cullen has potential with time and room to continue to progress game.

10/18/2017 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Cullen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. He did show on the mound for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.31. At 1B, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. He moves well laterally, showing plus range on the corner. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open / athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the baseball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 74-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great attitude and is very coachable as he works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/10/2017 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Cullen is an athletic, wiry built 1B/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set. At 1B, Cullen plays with effective pre-pitch actions and active footwork giving him the ability to cover good ground. He takes effective angles and fields the ball in an athletic position with soft hands. Cullen has a quick exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays through the baseball with a quick release showing strong accurate throws across the diamond. Offensively, Cullen has a square, athletic setup with his weight in the front of his stance. He takes a good load with a short stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. Cullen shows fast bat speed with an upward swing path. He is a line drive type hitter with a strong swing. Overall, Cullen is a well-rounded prospect who plays the game athletically giving him upside to get even better.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
