Official Scouting Report

  • 3BPosition Projection

06/15/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Bowie, MD Cullen is a very talented 3B prospect who continues to shine on the diamond. At the plate, this strong RHH steps into the box with a purpose. He takes a hack with plus bat speed, connects and drives the ball to the gaps (exit velocity = 86 mph). At 3B, he shows fluid actions working right to left through the GB. Hands are presented out in front as he funnels to a quick/clean transfer. He can make the backhand play with ease and fire strong throws with zip across the diamond. A projectable R/R 3B - Remus has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Cullen is a athletic and strong 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2021. At 3B, Cullen shows effective footwork with a +1st step to the ball. He gets into a square and athletic fielding position with a firm glove. His exchanges are clean as he works to get rid of the ball making accurate throws across the diamond with carry. At the plate, he sets up in a crouch with comfortable hands with simple rhythm and timing. He shows a smooth swing with fast bat speed making hard and consistent contact as he rotates his core. He uses a solid line drive approach driving the ball gap to gap. On the mound, Cullen shows a 2-pitch mix with a FB/CB combo with good tail on the FB and 11-5 break on the CB with tight spin. Pitching, he shows confidence on the bump with a small starter step as he gathers over the rubber. As he works down the mound, he keeps his stride in line making a controlled landing. Getting more extension will allow him to be a more effective pitcher. Overall Cullen shows the ability to be a solid 2-way player that will continue to improve.

08/14/2019 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Cullen is a solid, athletic 3B/RHP with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.31. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He moves well laterally, displaying range and soft / sure hands. At the plate he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (83 mph exit velocity), creating bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-79 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Cullen has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
