10/11/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Visalia, CA Curran continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, Fastball showed a range of 74-76 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late / sharp break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as outstanding pitches that will get outs. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

06/14/2020 - All-In Membership - Visalia, CA Curran is a tall 3B/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. At 3B, Curran shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields in an athletic position and makes a clean exchange. Getting rid of the ball quickly, he keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Presenting his hands to the ball sooner can help Curran improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with center balance. He is smooth getting into his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact to all fields. Curran can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. On the mound, Curran gathers over the rubber and works through solid mechanics, keeping his pitches around the zone. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77mph. Breaking ball sits from 54-58mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 57mph with tailing action. Separating his hands earlier in his motion can help Curran improve as a pitcher. Overall, Curran is a talented prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/09/2018 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Curran continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range increasing as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, power potential has improved through a tall setup. Hands are quick (and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 73 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with loose spin and gradual break. Changeup shows sinking action but slows arm speed, tipping off pitch to hitters. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

12/17/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Thousand Oaks, CA Curran is a tall, thin, 2-way player who plays 3B and RHP. Defensively, Curran has agile movements to the ball, footwork is efficient, and hands are firm. He moves well laterally, has a clean exchange, and throws with consistency to his target. On the mound, Currran has a smooth delivery, a free arm action, and good overall mechanics. At the plate, Curran stands in well balanced, he has a square stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He swings on plane and hits hard to the pull side. Curran can improve overall abilities with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
