Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Curtis is an athletic and talented 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Curtis is on time with his prep step, he presents a low/early glove, and fields the ball with 2 hands. He has good feeds on double plays and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to improve his first step and play through the ball. At the plate, Curtis starts in a crouched stance, he has loose hands, and has a controlled stride. He makes consistent contact and looks to drive the ball to the pull side. On the bump, Curtis gathers over the rubber, he separates on time, and rides his back side down hill. He has a simple delivery and is aggressive with his fastball. He sinks his changeup and has a medium break on his curveball. Curtis will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/27/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Rindge, NH Curtis showed some improvements in his game during his last workout with The Factory. On the mound, Curtis touched 70 MPH, he attacks the zone, and shows a controlled landing toward home plate. He mixes his off-speed in well and he throws strikes consistently. More finish and a looser arm action will help pitching get better. At SS, Curtis has active feet, he covers ground well, and fields cleanly. He has a smooth exchange and throws with good direction across the diamond. Offensively, Curtis has a closed stance, a square stride, and good balance. He has a short swing path, makes solid contact, and he can spray to all fields. Curtis improved both hitting and power grades to 38's. Improved balanced, timing, and lower body will help hitting numbers further improve.

07/14/2018 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Curtis is a hardworking and talented 2021 2-way prospect. At the hot corner, Curtis fields the ball in front of his body and makes good feeds on double plays. He makes accurate throws around the horn and stays directional with his feet when throwing. Curtis needs to continue be on time with his prep step, present a low/early glove, and work from the ground up. Continuing his agility program will increase his first step quickness to the ball as well. At the plate, Curtis starts in a tall stance, loads knee to knee, and keeps a quiet head. He needs to continue to work on getting his front foot down on time and loading his hands into the “launch position”. This will allow him to be on time and keep a middle approach. On the bump, Curtis is on time with his separation, extends thru his target, and has a loose arm action. Continuing to work north to south and driving his back leg toward the catcher will increase his down hill velocity. Curtis will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

12/28/2017 - College PREP - Rindge, NH Curits is an athletic 3B/RHP prospect. At the hot corner, Curtis has active feet; he gets into the proper fielding position, and is aggressive to the ball. He plays through the backhand, and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Continuing to have a proper prep step will help Curtis have a quick first step to the ball. At the plate, Curtis starts in a squared stance, shows good pitch recognition, and is aggressive on the fastball. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and using the backside will keep Curtis on plain and create more power to all fields. On the bump, Curtis keeps his eyes on his target, and repeats his delivery. Continuing to be balanced over the rubber, separating on time, and working down hill will allow Curtis to work the bottom half of the zone consistently. Curtis will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
