Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

07/11/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Curtis is a strong built 2B who also showcased his talents on the mound at this event. In the infield he displayed fluid actions and showed to have a strong arm across the diamond. He aggressively attacks the baseball with active feet. Continuing to get more reps will help him to field out in front of his body more. On the mound, Curtis showed the ability to repeat his delivery and work around the zone with his fastball. From a 3/4 arm slot, he threw a fastball, curveball, and changeup which all showed promise. Adding strength and long tossing will help Curtis gain velocity and become more consistent. At the plate, he started from a crouched stance and had quick hands through the zone generating line drives and using the whole field. More repetitions and swings will create a more consistent swing. Curtis continues to improve and he will be fun to watch in his final year of high school.

04/02/2017 - College PREP - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Curtis is a solid 2B who will graduate in 2018. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. Curtis has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
