Official Scouting Report

12/20/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Cy showed well in Pirate City and proved to be a coachable player who has a willingness to improve his game. On the mound, he threw in 3 innings and battled all 3. FB shows arm-side run and he's not afraid to come inside and challenge hitters. He has a short/quick arm-action and stays directional toward the dish. More extension on his follow through will help with command consistency. At the hot corner, he shows proper footwork which allows him to get into a square fielding position. He has a quick exchange and strong arm, firing it across the diamond. At the plate, Perry goes to the plate to hit. He delivers the barrel to and through the zone, driving it on a line. He consistently barrels up the ball and puts it in play. Cy has the tools which should give him success this upcoming season.

08/04/2013 - College PREP - Dublin (Columbus), OH Cy is a RHP/3B that will graduate in 2014. On the mound, he throws three pitches, with his fastball topping out at 82 MPH. He throws an 11/5 CB that has sharp break and has a tendency to be shaped like a slurve. He shows good glove side work, level shoulders and good rhythm. At the hot corner, he has soft hands, a clean/quick exchange and an accurate arm. He has active feet and makes plays. Promoting hands further in front and playing through the ball will allow for greater life than he presently shows. With the stick, he has a middle approach with good rhythm and strong lower. Perry projects well as either a RHP or 3B that can swing it and compete at any spot on the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
