07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Cyler continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Working to get stride foot down sooner to be on time will aid in improving hitting grade.

06/24/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Zachary (Baton Rouge), LA Cyler is a lean, athletic SS who will graduate in 2023. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.80. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active but needs to attacks balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 3 years to further develop, Cyler has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
