01/15/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (TX) Cruz is a talented/versatile athlete who can make things happen in a variety of ways on the diamond. Offensively, this strong RHH steps into the box looking to swing it. Setup is athletic/tall with active hands to load. He whips the barrel through the zone with explosive bat speed, connecting and sending the ball screaming to the deep parts of the park. He will fit nicely in a clean-up type role where he'll be able to drive in runs. He hustles out of the box and down the 1B line, always putting pressure on the defense. In the OF, he utilizes his speed and covers a ton of ground laterally. He works through the ball and has a smooth transfer glove to throwing hand - firing accurate throws into his target. D'Angelo (2021 grad) is a high level prospect who has the tools that will easily translate into the next level.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament D’Angelo continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.19 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding hitting abilities with excellent power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (87 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop.

12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) D’Angelo is a strong and talented catching prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, D’Angelo presents a low/early glove and tries to work behind the ball. He needs to get into a lower a balanced set up and work his thumb under the ball. When blocking, he needs to continue to lead with his glove and try to control the ball with his chest. When throwing, he has a strong arm and has good footwork. He needs to continue to create momentum into the ball and exchange the ball in front of his body. At the plate, D’Angelo had several good at bats and drove a few balls through the middle part of the field. He starts in a tall and open stance. He has a simple load and rotates his backside. He needs to continue to create separation with his load and be more aggressive with his lower half. D’Angelo is a hard worker and he has a bright future ahead of him.

10/27/2019 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA D'Angelo is an athletic C prospect who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, D'Angelo is fluid moving to block and keeps the ball in front of him. He receives with a firm glove and makes a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Sitting in a lower stance can help D'Angelo improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth getting into his load and leads well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and solid gap to gap pop. D'Angelo can improve as a hitter by keeping from diving out on his front foot. Overall, D'Angelo is a talented prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
