01/13/2023 - 2023 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Michael is a C in the 2023 class out of Hershey, PA. Behind the plate, he has effective feet and sits low. He presents a great target and his actions are easy. His exchanges are clean and uses a short high ¾ release to make accurate feeds (2.16 pop). At the plate, he has a simple approach. Stance is athletic and uses a short stride to gain proper separation. Timing is solid and gets his backside though. Barrel is on plane and shows consistent contact rate. Overall, Michael is a solid catching prospect that will make a college program better.

05/29/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - York, PA Michael is a C/3B in the class of 2023 out of Hershey, PA. Defensively he continues to make strides behind the dish. He receives the ball confidently and consistently in the pocket while working his thumb underneath to present strikes. His footwork is quick and clean on throw downs utilizing a short arm action to get the ball on target in time. He does a good job of moving laterally to center ball on the body and deadening them in front while blocking. At the plate, he uses a square set up with good rhythm and a controlled load to get into a balanced launch position. From there, he delivers the barrel through the zone on plane to make consistent contact. He likes to work the pull side of the field in his approach. Michael continues to progress his game each and every event he attends. We are excited about his growth as a player this coming year.

02/26/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Michael continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the plate, feet are active as he gains ground and works through a clean/transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest pop time to date at 2.10. Throws display carry but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft as he lets the ball travel and tracks well, sticking in the zone. He utilizes his body through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Receiving/blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Michael is a C prospect who showcased his skills during the Opening Day Classic. Behind the plate, Michael sits in a low stance and tracks the ball into his glove well. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making strong throws through the 2B bag. Moving sooner to block can help Michael keep more dirt balls in front of him. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and works to barrel up the baseball, producing solid line drives. Michael can improve his timing at the plate by getting his stride foot down sooner. Overall, Michael is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Michael is a solid C/RHP prospect who showed well at the Academic All-American Tournament. From behind the plate, he presents his glove and tracks the ball well. He uses quick footwork on his throws down to second as he replaces his feet and gains ground. He creates momentum into a quick/clean exchange putting throws on the bag with pop times still in the low 2's. At the plate, he uses an athletic setup with a quiet head and comfortable hands. An activated load and controlled rhythm allow Michael to be on time and work though his lower half. He swings on-plane which helps him produce hard and consistent line-drive contact. Michael is a coachable, hard working player who will only continue to progress.

10/10/2020 - Fall College Prospect Video + Evaluation Experience - PA (HS) Michael continues to work hard and show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting/power potential have improved through a crouched setup. Hands are quick and works through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the plate, he presents a soft/sure mitt, sticking balls in the zone. He will benefit by utilizing his body more through the blocking process to center balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.13 with accuracy on his throws. On the mound, delivery is sound/repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 66-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Working to maintain FB arm-speed when throwing his CH will help to improve effectiveness. Stock on the mound will increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Only a 2023 grad - Michael has skills with still time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Michael continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to work to get body down sooner. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 70-71 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

02/08/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Palmyra (Harrisburg), PA Michael showed well all around the diamond during his last workout in Palmyra. Behind the plate, Michael has good defensive skills, quick feet, and soft hands. He receives softly, keeps the ball in front when blocking, and throws with accuracy from a short arm to 2nd base. On the mound, Michael has good balance over the rubber, a clean arm, and finishes in a complete position. He gets good extension, mixes his off-speed in well, and competes in the zone. Offensively, Michael has an athletic stance, loads well, and works the middle of the field. He make hard/consistent contact to the pull side and he uses his lower.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training Tournament at Pirate City (Ages 14-18) Michael continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, he's a great communicator and keeps everyone in the game. His pop times showed in the 2.35 range with accuracy on his throws. Hands are soft/sure and he sticks balls in the zone. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner and improve his lateral movement. At the plate, power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are loose and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 72 mph. Fastball showed a range of 70-72 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a team player, coachable, and plays the game hard.

09/01/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Bel Air (Baltimore), MD Michael showed improvements in radar velocity, exit velocity, as well has defensive and offensive numbers during his last workout. Behind the plate, Michael tracks the ball well, he sits in cleanly, and he works hard behind the dish. He keeps the ball in front when blocking, his exchange is quick, and he throws with accuracy and momentum to 2nd base. On the mound, Michael has good balance and he works in good tempo. He separates his hands on time, has good direction toward home plate, and he is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Michael has a square stance, a short stride, and he swings aggressively. We want to see Michael continue to use the entire field and use his lower body. Michael has a bright future ahead of himself with him entering that freshman year.

03/17/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Ashburn (DC), VA Michael showed nice all around improvements in his game during his last workout with The Factory. Velocity improved to 61 MPH, hitting grades to 32's, and he lowered pop times to 2.33 seconds. Behind the plate, Michael has active feet, soft hands, and good flexion. He covers the 5 hole properly, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy and momentum from a loose arm action to 2nd base. On the mound, Michael has a clean arm circle he separates on time, and he uses his lower body. He works in good tempo, keeps his eyes on target, and he competes in the zone. At the plate, Michael has a square set-up, good bat speed, and he creates leverage. He repeats his swing well and hits with strength to the pull side. Michael can continue to improve skills with work on the following.

11/03/2018 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching Weekend (Ages 12-14) Michael is an athletic and talented catching prospect that made several adjustments throughout the Mid Atlantic Regional Pitching and Catching weekend. Behind the dish, Michael is in an athletic primary and a balanced secondary stance. He presents a low target and works behind the ball. He needs to continue to be on time and controlling the ball in front of his body post pitch. When blocking, he leads with his glove, controls balls with his chest, and works side to side. Michael has quick feet, a quick release, and consistently throws the ball over the bag. He needs to continue to anticipate the pitch, have a clean exchange in front of his body, and create momentum with his lower half into the throw. Michael is very coachable and will continue to excel to the next level.

11/16/2017 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Michael is an athletic 2023 RHP/3B prospect with a lot of energy. He is a very coachable player and made several adjustments over the weekend at Pirate City. At the hot corner, Michael has active pre pitch movement and works hard to every ball. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws across the diamond. Continuing to work from the ground up, and funneling the ball into his body will allow him to consistently make the routine play. At the plate, Michael has an athletic stance and gets his front foot down on time. He has an aggressive swing and has good pitch recognition. Attacking the inside part of the ball and getting the barrel on plane will allow him to get extension through contact. Using the lower half will allow him to make consistent hard contact to all fields. On the bump, Michael gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works downhill. Continuing to have a loose arm swing and finishing over the front side will allow him to be more consistent with his delivery. Michael is a hard working player and will continue to improve with experience. We hope to see his progress in the future.

09/24/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Scranton, PA Michael is a (2023-grad) 3B/RHP. Defensively at 3B, he presents his hands and fields GB's clean with his backhand. He comes up with a clean transfer and makes accurate throws to his target. On the hill, this RHP stands tall and drives his lower 1/2 off of the rubber. He separates on time and delivers a FB and CH from an over the top arm slot as he works in line towards home plate. With the stick, Michael has an aggressive approach. He creates consistent contact by swinging on a short path through the zone and stays balanced through contact. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
