01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dakota is a solid RHH catcher who showed well during his time at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. With the bat, this righty stands in well with an open stance and centered balance. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with pop. Stroke is smooth as he hits line-drives. Behind the dish, Dakota sits in well with quiet/athletic actions and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. Lateral actions are quick as he centers pitches in the dirt off of his chest. Throws to 2B are accurate with pop times still in the low 2's. Branger (2020 grad) is a skilled prospect who should find success in this only his sophomore season.

11/05/2017 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Dakota is a broad, strong 2020 catching prospect with tons of talent and advanced skills. He has an absolute cannon for an arm to cut down base stealers and pose low pop times (2.02 seconds). He is athletic behind the plate with efficient footwork to move laterally to block and receive. He has soft hands to stick pitches in the zone and deaden balls to center with a clean exchange and quick release. Working on blocking with both knees down will make him a wall defensively. At the dish, he shows very good barrel feel to make hard contact. His lower half generates good bat speed and power as he works on a direct path to the ball, getting on plane early through the zone. Dakota has very exciting tools all over the field and has a bright future in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
