11/09/2008 - College PREP - Austin, TX Dakota is a SS with a thin body that does show projection as it continues to physically mature. Foot speed is near average and has to improve through a speed /agility program to play in the middle of the infield at the collegiate level. He keeps balls in front of him but needs to be more aggressive with his feet in coming to get and playing through ground balls. Glove action is deep, allowing balls to dictate play due to feet stopping through the fielding process. He shows long, mechanical actions in his defensive play. Arm strength is below average and needs to get on a strict long toss program to aid in building arm strength. At the plate, Cabrera has below average ability and power. He works to keep hands inside the baseball and displays good hip turn. Weight does get out on the front side causing him to lunge at balls. Hitting grades will improve with some instruction and adjustments at the plate. Dakota has abilities with a lot of room to improve.
