07/24/2024 - Baseball Factory Teams - Southwest Championships 18U Dakota Ellenbecker is a 2025 OF prospect with a strong, athletic frame, standing 6'0" and weighing 200 lbs. Throughout the tournament, Dakota consistently made the routine plays in the outfield. His accuracy on throws was particularly impressive, as he consistently hit either the cutoff man or the base with precision. Though Dakota is a converted outfielder from the infield, he initially showed some discomfort with the outfielder’s glove. However, as the week progressed, he demonstrated significant improvement and growing confidence in this new role. At the plate, Dakota batted from the right side and achieved a personal best 92 mph exit velocity at the event. He reached base 4 times in 8 at-bats, including 2 singles and an RBI. While Dakota is predominantly a pull hitter, he made notable progress in using the entire field as the tournament advanced. Overall, Dakota’s defensive reliability and offensive improvements highlight his potential as a promising outfield prospect.

01/12/2024 - 2024 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament Dakota is a tall 2025 OF who showcased his talents at the BF Pre-Season All-America Tournament. In the outfield, he has active feet and is agile. He makes good reads and works behind the ball well. He has a 2-hand exchange and uses good momentum towards his target. He throws from a ¾ arm slot had accurate throws. At the plate, Dakota starts from an athletic stance and has a short stride. He had a line drive approach and did a good job of hitting the top half of the baseball. During the games, he had several hard outs and a single as well. With a year of continued growth and development, we believe that Dakota will continue to become a great player on the field.

12/02/2022 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Dakota is a solid 1B/RHP who plays above grade in the 2025 class. In the field, he has pre-pitch movement. Creates a solid glove lane and strong presentation. Hands and feet are in sync and gains a clean transfer. Covers his defensive zone well and shows footwork around the bag. Working to sink his hips more will allow him to stay in his legs longer. On the mound, he operates with a 2-pitch mix from a high ¾ slot. His Fb sits 65-8 and his CB sits 60-2 with 10-4 shape. He has on-time separation and keeps his eyes to the target. At the plate, he has quick and strong hands through the zone (81 exit velo). His swing is short and creates line drive production to the gaps. Working to stay in his base will allow for additional power. Overall, Dakota has great starting points for a bright future.

08/14/2022 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Oak Creek (Milwaukee), WI Dakota is a 1B/RHP prospect who will graduate in 2025. Medium frame stocky build with strength present and room to add throughout. At 1B, he starts with efficient feet and a good prep step. Takes aggressive angles to baseball, with ability to pick out hops, and fields from a square fielding position. A short arm stroke into a high 3/4 release point, with ability to turn glove side, and an arm velocity on his throws to second base up to 78mph. On the mound, he works with good tempo and keeps his head still throughout delivery. He gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on-time. Throws a FB that sits 64-70mph, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball, and a developing changeup. A right-handed hitter, he starts with an upright and even stance. He gets his hands separated, with smooth timing to swing, and keeps his weight between his knees. Showed good barrel control as he sprayed balls to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 80mph during his round of BP. With 3 years of continued growth and development, we foresee this 2-way prospect making huge strides on the baseball diamond.

07/21/2022 - Baseball Factory National World Series at IMG Academy - Session 2 (HS) Dakota is a 3/RHP in the 2025 class. In the field, he gains ground well and works from the ground up. Fields out in front and has strong glove presentation. His exchanges are clean and he can release with quickness and accuracy. Has a h ¾ slot and uses short arm action. On the mound, he works quickly and keeps his eyes on the target. His FB topped at 71 with tailing actions. His CB sat 59-65 with 10/4 shape. Working to stay tall and drive down the slope will generate more backside power for added velo. At the plate, he is quiet and explodes to the baseball. Has plus bat speed (86 exit velo) from a short and controlled stride. Hands are comfortable and get through the zone. Overall, Dakota is a solid two-way prospect. With 3 years to develop, he can blossom into a fine prospect.

12/05/2021 - All-In Membership - Windsor (Madison), WI Dakota is a solid 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic, open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable as he shows good tempo through a strong balance point, allowing his arm action to work quick and free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 69-71 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 1 years to further develop, Dakota has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
