12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Dakota showed to be a good teammate with consistent ability offensively and defensively in his most recent outing with Baseball Factory. Behind the plate, he sat with balance & ease, and lead with the glove to receive and block. He was narrow with his setup which made it tough for him to be quick down to block. He could also improve his transfer and arm strength. Offensively, his highlight was hitting a big 2 RBI triple in one of his AB's. He generated good bat speed and with more consistent timing will hit with more consistent authority. All in all - Dakota has a little over a year left to strengthen and add consistency in hopes of next level play.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Dakota showcased as a catcher and continues to make adjustments. Behind the dish he has firm hands, bodies the ball when blocking, and has solid footwork when making throws. Would like to see him become more vocal behind the plate and be confident in his ability. At the plate he has an athletic setup, smooth load, short stride, and has good timing. His swing is level and makes solid contact. Shows good barrel accuracy and will generate more pop with a stronger lower half.

10/06/2013 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Dakota continues to progress in his game. This 2-way player showed well both behind the plate and at 3B. As a catcher, bother his receiving and blocking skills have improved. He has a clean exchange and works in-line toward 2B, gaining ground toward his target. At 3B, he works from the ground up and gets into a low/athletic fielding position. Presenting his glove out in front will help to avoid the in between hop. Offensively, Dakota shows some feel for his barrel. He squares the ball up and is a contact type hitter. He continues to improve and will do so as he is only a sophomore.

07/24/2013 - California Select Training & Competition (Ages 14-18) Dakota continues to show as a C/3B and has improved his abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date and will benefit by continuing to improve foot quickness. He utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level as he continues to improve / develop. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and fields in front, presenting soft hands. For defensive grade to continue to improve, he needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. At the plate, he shows a balanced setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power numbers improving as he learns to use his lower half more. At the event, he was 2 for 8. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be best player he can be.

05/05/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Lakewood (Denver), CO Dakota is a tall and thin, 2-way player who catches and plays 3B. Behind the plate, Dakota has firm hands, fluid footwork, and he covers ground well. He blocks well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with accuracy from a short / loose arm action. At 3B, Dakota has firm hands, fluid footwork, and he fields in a low position. At the plate, Dakota has a tall set-up, a square stride, and average bat speed. His swing is level, he makes square contact, and he uses his lower 1/2. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
