Official Scouting Report

07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Dakota is a towering two-way prospect who plays the game hard and uses his long levers to generate velocity on the mound and bat speed at the plate. He has improved his defense in the outfield significantly and projects the ability to play either corner with the ability to man centerfield as well. His active feet and good reads off the bat lead to a quick first step and extended range in the outfield. He works behind the ball and plays through with momentum to his target and makes strong, accurate throws to cut down base runners. At the dish, he tracks the ball well and has good strike zone discipline to work the count for his pitch and attack it with a strong swing. He uses all fields with a short, direct path to the ball that covers the whole plate and has fast bat speed to hit the ball hard and for extra bases. On the bump, he features a FB/CB mix, working ahead in the count with the fastball up to 78mph and putting hitters away with the 11-5 breaking curve. He repeats his delivery well and has feel for pitching and sequencing to keep hitters off balance and get them out. Loosening up his arm stroke will lead to more whip and velocity moving forward. Dakota is a talented player who we expect to have a successful senior campaign.

04/08/2018 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Dakota continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point and throws from a ¾ arm slot. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 77 mph. Fastball shows good cutting action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

01/06/2018 - Southwest Regional Accelerated Hitting Weekend Dakota is an athletic and hard working 2019 prospect. He's eager to learn and he made several adjustments during the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. At the plate, Dakota starts in an athletic and open stance. He loads his hands back into the drive position and keeps fluid rhythm in his body. He uses the lower half and shows the ability to drive the ball gap to gap. Continuing to attack the inside part of the ball and keep the barrel on plane will allow him to be more consistent with his middle approach. If he works on keeping his head down through contact it will prevent him from pulling the front side. Dakota will continue to improve with experience and repetition. We hope to see his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
