11/12/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Dakota continued to show his skills at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. Dakota sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is fluid getting back into his load and he comes through the zone with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact. Dakota can improve as a hitter by taking a more open stride to allow his lower half to be more explosive. Overall, Dakota is a solid hitter who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

06/25/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 Dakota possesses the skills and the mentality to be a very good two way player going forward. A primary pitcher, Dakota has a good balance point, on time separation with his hands, and clean arm action from his overhead arm slot to throw effective strikes often. Dakota also throws a curveball and a changeup that both keep hitters off balance with their good movement and speed differentials. He works quickly and doesn't let hitters get settled. In the outfield he uses his speed and good footwork to field the ball well and cover a lot of ground. At the plate, Dakota has a square and on time stride/load and keeps his head still to track the ball well and make consistent contact. Finishing his swing with more extension, would create more power for him easily. He battles at the plate as he went 6 for 11 with 4 singles and 2 doubles). Dakota is a great teammate that will be an asset for any team he plays for in the future.

04/03/2016 - College PREP - Pittsburgh, PA Dakota continues to develop on the diamond. On the mound, this RHP has an effective 3-pitch mix as he fills up the strike zone. He gets strong glove-side lead/tuck and drives off of the rubber. FB now still sits in the low 80's as he commands it well. Curveball has 12/6 shape while his CH is thrown with FB arm speed. Continuing to work on the consistency of his release point on his CB will help to improve effectiveness. At 3B - Dakota has active footwork and moves well around the GB from right to left. He funnels smoothly while maintaining good body control and has a clean exchange to throw. With the bat, this righty has a balanced setup with a solid base. He gets loaded with his hands back, whips the barrel on a level path and works to engage his lower 1/2. Added power will come with more extension through contact. This 2-way player has upside with still time to progress.

12/27/2015 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Sunday is a two-way RHP/C that will graduate in 2018. On the mound, this righty showed an idea of pitching and what he was trying to execute. Dakota worked with a sound pace and showed good composure during his outings while using a fast-change mix showing signs of command with both. Mechanically, the balance position is gathered and the separation works on time. Developing a stronger front side lead and staying directional to home plate will help to add extension which at the moment is limited. Defensively, behind the plate, Dakota squares up the baseball well when he blocks and is accurate and in-line to the target with throws. For receiving, Sunday will benefit from widening the base and keeping the feet square and developing greater ability to stick pitches as opposed to stabbing to catch. Offensively, Dakota hit from a square set up and worked through a lower half load and utilized the backside well in his stroke. Developing an activation with hands to work with the lower half and creating more balance will add to offensive abilities. Dakota came through with some big hits for his team in Pirate City and with his hard-working, coachable approach, Sunday will get the most from his ability leading into the spring.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
