He has a quick, clean exchange leading into a short arm action. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot showing a quick release. Dakota shows accurate throws with good carry across the diamond. Offensively, Dakota has a tall, open setup with a centered balance. He has fluid rhythm with a smooth load and short, square stride. Dakota partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. He has a short, direct swing path and is developing bat speed. Dakota is a line drive type hitter and looks to put the ball in play. Behind the plate, Dakota has an effective setup and he tracks the ball well. He moves with quiet actions and good body control. Dakota stabs at the ball and shows a clean exchange leading into a short arm action. He has a quick release throwing from an over the top arm slot. He shows accurate throws with good carry to 2B. Dakota does a nice job blocking the ball and moves well laterally. Overall, Dakota has skill on both sides of the ball and potential to get even better.

08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Dakota is a coachable SS/C prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the National World Series at Pirate City. In the field, Dakota shows quick footwork and is very agile moving to the ball. He gets into an athletic position and fields with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and shows a quick release on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Dakota can improve defensively by taking a quicker first step. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and takes a square stride. He gets into his load well and drives the ball to all fields. Dakota can improve as a hitter by driving his lower half more. Overall, Dakota is a solid prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

01/27/2018 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Dakota is a solid, athletic C/SS who will graduate in 2020. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the 2.31 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks balls well and sticks balls in the zone through an athletic setup. Blocking grades will improve as he improves lateral mobility and gets his body down sooner. At SS, he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper angles and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 2 years to further develop, Dakota has abilities with a lot of room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
