11/24/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Shreveport, LA Dalen is a C/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Dalen shows quick footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in a low stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to the 2B bag. Sitting in a wider stance can help Dalen improve as a C. In the OF, Dalen shows quick footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He fields the ball out in front of his body and makes a clean exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate and on-line to his target. Getting into a lower fielding position can help Dalen improve as an OF. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He shows smooth rhythm and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to consistent contact and gap to gap pop. Working more of a load into his swing can help Dalen improve as a hitter. Overall, Dalen is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

12/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Dalen is an athletic and talented 2023 Catching prospect that was eager to learn. Behind the dish, Dalen presents a low target and has a balanced primary stance. He works behind the ball and controls balls in the strike zone when receiving. He needs to continue to be aggressive to the ball blocking and trying to control the ball with his chest. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to the bases. At the plate, Dalen starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and gets his front foot down on time. He makes consistent contact and drives the ball gap to gap. He needs to continue to attack the inside part of the ball and keep his head down at contact. Dalen is a hard worker and will continue to improve with experience.

10/21/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Texarkana, TX Dalen is an atheltic, 2-way player with good skills. Behind the plate, Dalen has fluid/active feet, he sits in low and athletically, and he squares his shoulders up well to the ball. He gains ground, his exchange is quick and clean, and throws with momentum from a short arm action to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.25 seconds. At 3B, Dalen has active footwork, he takes good angles, and plays through properly. He funnels well, and has a short arm action with accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Dalen has an open stance, a short stride, and good balance. He has quick hands, swings in good rhythm, and works the ball gap to gap. Dalen can improve already solid skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
