03/20/2022 - All-In Membership - Greenville, SC Dalton continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show at 3B for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are active as he works to get behind balls and plays through with his body. He reads balls well off the bat and moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At 3B, he displays smooth /fluid actions. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. Feet are active but needs to attack ball more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine with improvements in his hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

05/31/2020 - All-In Membership - Greenville, SC Dalton is a lean, athletic OF who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays clean actions. He utilizes his feet well in his lateral movement in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work to and through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. With 5 years to further develop, Dalton has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
