08/01/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Dalton continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball shows a range of 74-76 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to develop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. In the OF, he displays smooth/fluid actions. He utilizes his feet in taking proper routes/angles in working to get behind balls. He shows good game awareness and does a nice job of backing up bases. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

03/04/2018 - College PREP - Indianapolis, IN Dalton is an athletic and talented 2019 LHP/OF prospect. In the OF, Dalton starts in an athletic stance and has an active prep step. He creates angles on his first step and creates momentum in his lower half when throwing the ball. At the plate, Dalton starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He consistently gets the barrel into a good contact position and keeps a quiet head. On the bump, Dalton gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and extends through his release point. He keeps his eyes on his target and has good tempo on the mound. Dalton will continue to improve with experience and we look forward to seeing his progress in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
