06/20/2011 - College PREP - Houston, TX Dalton worked out behind the plate and in the OF at his last workout in Houston, TX. Behind the plate, Dalton has firm / sure hands, efficient footwork, and he sits in easy. He tracks the ball well, catches in an athletic position, and he smothers the ball when blocking. Dalton has a quick / clean exchange, and he throws with a long arm action with life and accuracy to his target. Catching skills can get better if Dalton can quicken his feet, loosen his actions, and get his lower body more involved when blocking. In the OF, Dalton is aggressive to the ball. He has sure hands and he takes good angles to the ball. He has playable feet, a clean exchange, and he throws with a loose arm and accuracy to his target. Fielding ground balls in a lower position, not drifting, and using 2 hands will help his defensive grades improve. At the plate Dalton shows an open / athletic set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He is an aggressive hitter with good balance, strong hands, and fast bat speed. Dalton swings a level bat, he makes square contact, and he has pop in his bat. A looser grip and more direct hands to the ball can help hitting grades further spike.
