01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dalton has molded himself into quite a prospect behind the dish. Sitting in well with athletic actions, he tracks the ball into the zone and sticks pitches, framing well. Exchange is quick as throws show carry & accuracy to 2B (pop times of 1.99). Offensively, Davies shows a balanced approach with a solid base. Quick hands drive the bat to and through the zone with whip, resulting in pop off of his barrel. This junior, 6'0"/170 will make an impact in all aspects of the game.

10/15/2014 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic Dalton showed as a catcher at the event and improved his power grade at the event, now showing well above average potential. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path as he tracks the ball well. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat, displaying gap to gap power. Behind the plate, pop times showed in the low 2.00 range as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play at the next level. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a hard worker, is very coachable, and displays great leadership skills behind the dish.

07/14/2014 - College PREP - Carrollton (DFW), TX Dalton continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he shows an athletic setup with good flexion. He is quick around pitches in the dirt, blocking and centering them off of his chest. He gains ground toward his target and puts his throws on the bag. With the bat, he works back into a strong loaded position, waiting for his pitch. He shows pop to the opposite field as he utilizes his lower 1/2 well. Only a 2016 grad - Dalton is an excellent defender who should find success in the next couple of years.

12/27/2013 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City Dalton showed well behind the plate and at 3B during his time at Pirate City. At catcher, Dalton has solid actions, quick feet, and he looks the ball into his glove. He blocks well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with pop times as low as 2.11 to 2nd base. At 3B, Dalton has good pre-pitch actions, he funnels well to his chest, and he has a quick release across the diamond. Offensively, Dalton has good balance, an activated load, and good barrel accuracy.

07/15/2013 - College PREP - Plano (DFW), TX Dalton is an athletic catcher that will graduate in 2016. He utilizes his athletic feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.18-2.33 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level. At the plate, Davies continues to shine through an athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a direct / level swing path. He makes consistent contact, mainly to the pull side. For hitting grades to improve, he needs to work to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields. He shows a feel for the barrel with the baseball jumping off the bat when centered and power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. With 3 years to further to develop, Dalton has the makings to be a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
