01/14/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS) Dalton is a class of 2024 catcher. Behind the plate, he showed good footwork. He has a good ability to control the run game and had pop times as low as 2.60 seconds. He did a good job blocking and showed quickness and good pitch recognition. He received well and was able to show quiet actions. At the plate, he showed the ability to track the ball well. He has a good approach with a middle of the field focus. He did a good job using his lower ½ and getting separation. In game action he was able to find barrels often and got on base multiple times. Dalton is a well-rounded athletic catcher and we hope to see him again as he continues to develop.

10/23/2021 - Mid-Atlantic Regional Offensive Skills Weekend (Ages 14-18) Dalton continues to shine with his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but will benefit by creating better angles to center balls out front. Pop times showed in 2.97 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/26/2021 - All-In Membership - York, PA Dalton is a 2024 RHH C. Defensively, Dalton showed great flexibility behind the dish allowing him to block difficult pitches and deaden the baseball. He exhibited good glove presentation with a soft pocket and great form by framing low pitches and keeping the thumb underneath the ball. Dalton could benefit from a long toss program to build arm strength. Offensively, Dalton stands tall with a square stance and uses a short stride to control his head well and get good whip and extension through the zone. He has quick hands and but could utilize more lower half in his swing. With 3 years of development, Dalton could put himself in a position to be a good prospect.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
