Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2015 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Dalton Mattison competed as both a 1B/RHP at the Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic. Defensively, he attacked the ball well and got his body into a low fielding position to make plays. He moved his feet around the bag nicely, and showed carry to throw. Offensively, had an athletic stance and showed some rhythm to launch and hit. Continued work on fluidity and timing will allow him to make more consistently hard contact. On the rubber, he showed signs of command with his FB and spun a 12/6 CB for frequent strikes. His delivery and arm action was clean, and he located both his pitches, allowing him to keep hitters off balance. Overall - Dalton is a projectable guy that will continue to shine in a baseball enriched environment.

09/27/2015 - College PREP - Bellevue (Seattle), WA Dalton is a R/R 1B who has a strong build (6'1"/235). With the bat, this righty has a balanced setup with a solid base. Quick hands whip the barrel to and through the zone as he connects and dries the ball on a line. The ball jumps off of his bat when centered. Relaxing/loosening his grip will allow for even more bat whip with more potential power. At 1B - Dalton shows active footwork moving well into a square fielding position. He has god bag awareness and can adjust to throws to his right and left with the ability to pick it. Dalton has a ton of upside and should find success in this his senior year.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
