07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Dalton is a big, strong two-way plyer who loves the game and is a fierce competitor on the mound. He has a clean, repeatable delivery that leads to control of all his pitches and that ability to stay around the zone. He works with good rhythm down the mound and drives off his back leg to jump towards the hitter. He has a clean, quick arm stroke that leads to good action on his pitches. At first, he shows efficient and nimble feet, especially working to the backhand and shows good range in the hole. He has a strong arm to make good throws across the diamond and start the DP. Working on speed and agility drills will improve his range and footwork around the bag. At the dish, he shows good knowledge of the zone and has a plan when he steps in the box. He shows good bat speed and pop to the pull side with big time power potential in his projectable frame. Dalton is an interesting prospect who we expect to have a successful senior campaign.

05/20/2018 - College PREP - Gambrills, MD Dalton continues to show a promising future on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the bump, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his loose, quick arm action to work well to the plate. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 82 mph. Fastball showed range of 77-82 mph with cutting action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with late break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches at the next level. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. At 1B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and he displays proper footwork around the bag. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves and he continues to increase foot quickness.

03/26/2017 - College PREP - Harmony (Pittsburgh), PA Dalton is a big, strong RHP/1B who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best, through a squared setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and utilizes his lower half with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power shows best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure but will benefit by presenting more out front. Feet are active as he attacks balls, playing through well. Range will increase as he works to increase foot quickness. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 74-77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 12/6 shape with late, sharp break and shows potential as being a quality pitch. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Dalton has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
