Official Scouting Report

  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

10/23/2013 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Dalton continues to progress in his game. On the mound, he competed and attacks hitters. FB shows tail and late action out at 80 mph. He shows good arm speed on his CB as it's a good out pitch. He god ahead of hitters throwing strikes and giving his defense a chance. Defensively, Dalton showed his versatility as he played everywhere on the diamond. At 3B, he presents his glove and works to field the ball out in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and strong arm, firing the ball across the diamond. Offensively, Dalton shows good rhythm and gets back into a strong loaded position. He utilizes his strong lower 1/2 and creates extension to and through the ball at contact. At the event, he went 4 for 7 with 4 singles. Dalton is a hard working coachable player who will make an impact on the diamond this upcoming season.

09/08/2013 - College PREP - Azusa, CA Dalton is a solid 2-way player as a 3B/RHP. Offensively, this right-handed swinger shows good rhythm and a middle of the field approach. He gets good rotation and drives his lower 1/2, helping to generate pop off of his barrel. At the hot corner, he works around the ground ball and plays from right to left. He is sure handed, has a clean exchange, and gets the ball across the diamond accurately. On the bump, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix coming from a long/loose arm action. FB shows plus command as it tops out at 83 mph. CB shows 11/5 shape and late break. He works downhill and in-line toward the dish, driving off the rubber with his strong lower 1/2. Finishing out over his front side will help to improve mound effectiveness. Dalton has an all-around solid skill-set and will have success in the game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
