01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (HS)
Dalton is a talented/athletic (6’1”/200) two-way (1B/RHP) prospect in the 2022 class. This righty has a presence as he enters the batter’s box. Starting in a tall/open stance with comfortable hands, Dalton produces hard line-drive type contact, crushing the ball deep in the gaps. Good body control and a smooth/on-plane swing path allows the ball to jump off his barrel (exit velo = 83 mph). He shows a mechanically sound swing, as he coordinates his hands and hips and has great barrel control through the zone. At 1B, he has quick/active feet allowing him to field any ball hit his way. He has good bag awareness and follows that up with a solid/consistent glove. Throws are accurate and strong from a high 3/4 arm action (81 mph). He takes the mound with a two-pitch mix (FB/CB) and works around the zone. FB still sits mid 70's and CB shows 11-5 shape with movement. Vagas is a skilled prospect who has the tools that will make an impact in this his junior year.
09/30/2020 - Arizona Junior Fall Classic
Dalton is a coachable 1B/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Arizona Fall Classic. In the field, Dalton shows quick footwork and gets into an athletic position. He fields the ball out in front of his body and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws with carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated on time and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and strong line drives. On the mound, Dalton shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with late arm side run. Breaking ball sits at 63mph with 10-4 break. Overall, Dalton is a talented prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Dalton is a tall, solid 1B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays smooth, fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting / power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-75 mph with tailing action. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his cutter with short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Dalton has potential with time and room to progress his game.
