01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Vergith showed only at 1B where he has improved his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a solid runner at 7.39. Defensive grade are now outstanding as he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. He moves well laterally, displaying range and shows soft / sure hands. Feet / hands work well through the fielding actions and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. Power potential is present, showing gap to gap pop.

07/29/2014 - Under Armour Southwest Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Dalton showed in the OF for the first time with well above average defensive abilities. He reads balls well off the bat, takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls, and works to get behind balls, playing through well with momentum to his target. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

01/20/2014 - College PREP - Omaha, NE Dalton is a big bodied INF (1B/2B) who can swing it. This righty displays patience as he sits back and waits for his pitch. Barrel delivery is short/quick and he likes the pitch on the inner 1/2, showing pull-side pop. He drives the ball to the gaps and will be a run producer. In the INF, Dalton shows good prep and has active footwork on his approach to the ground ball. He presents his glove out in front and fields the ball cleanly. At 1B he is a big target and can get to almost anything thrown his way. Dalton is a skilled player as his offensive skill-set will provide success.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
