  • SS/RHPPosition Projection

01/08/2021 - 2021 Baseball Factory Pre-Season Prospects Tournament (MS) Dalton is a projectable 2-way player (SS/RHP) who shines in a variety of ways on the diamond. At SS, Dalton showed off his cannon with a 73 mph arm velocity paired with an athletic ready position, active footwork, and accurate arm. Not only did he impress at short, but Dalton also shined at the plate. His athletic setup, smooth swing, and on-time rhythm would help him make hard contact consistently. Just when we thought Dalton had done it all, he stepped on the mound with an impressive 3 pitch mix. His secondary pitches showed well with good tilt on his SL and good arm action on his changeup. Overall, Dalton is a solid 2-way prospect that projects as a SS but can certainly get it done on the mound. We are excited to see where this game takes him in the future.

11/06/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona Dalton is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training & Competition in Arizona. In the field, Dalton takes a quick first step and makes the routine plays. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making accurate throws with carry across the diamond. Presenting his glove to the ball sooner can help Dalton field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He works through a level swing with explosive bat speed, leading to loud contact and gap to gap pop. Dalton can barrel up more baseballs by working on his load timing. On the mound, Dalton separates his hands on time and works with a quick arm, staying inline toward the plate. He shows a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with arm side run. Changeup sits at 61mph. Being more controlled gathering to his balance point can help Dalton improve his pitch command. With six more years to develop, Dalton has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

12/29/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Indianapolis, IN Dalton is a young, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Dalton has active feet, he covers ground, and fields squarely. He has firm hands, works around the ball well, and his exchange is clean with a consistent arm across the diamond. On the mound, Dalton has good balance and a clean arm action. He separates his hands on time, lands toward home with a proper length stride, and he competes in the zone. Offensively, Dalton has an athletic set-up, good balance, and he swings in good rhythm. He has fast bat speed, swings on plane, and he can work the ball gap to gap. Overall skills can continue to improve with work on the following.

1. Arm strength
2. Release
3. Quicken feet

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
