Official Scouting Report

  • C/1BPosition Projection

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Damein is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. Behind the plate, Damein starts in an athletic primary and secondary. He works behind the ball and has strong hands when receiving. He needs to continue to lead with his glove and square his chest up to the ball when blocking. He has a strong arm but having a clean exchange will increase his times to 2B. At the plate, Damien starts in a squared stance and gets his front foot down on time. He backspins the ball, sees the ball deep, and shows pop to the pull side. Continuing to be aggressive on the fastball and rotating the back hip into the ball will increase his ability to drive the ball to all fields. On the bump, Damien gathers over the rubber, separates in time, and works north to south. He sits 66-69 with his fastball and has a 10-4 break with his breaking ball. Damien needs to continue to increase his work load and improve his pre-game routines. He will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

04/22/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Reno, NV Damein is a tall, 2-way player with good skills. Behind the plate, Damein sits in squarely, he presents his glove, and sticks it well. He looks the ball in, keeps it in front when blocking, and throws with accuracy from a quick arm to 2nd base. On the mound, Damein has a good arm slot, he keeps his eyes on target, and he competes in the zone with his pitches. At the plate, Damein has a tall set-up, good bat speed, and he gets good extension through the ball. He makes consistent contact, and has good pop potential in his bat. Damein can improve overall skills with work on the following.

1. Footwork

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
