07/27/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 14-18) Damien is an athletic and tall 2019 2-way prospect that works hard and made several adjustments throughout the week. At 2B, Damien has an efficient prep step, creates angles to the ball, and plays through his back hand. He has good footwork on double plays and knows his positioning on cut offs. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, he starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps his head down at contact. He hits off a firm front side and stays balanced through contact. He needs to attack the inside part of the ball and keep the barrel on plane with the ball. On the bump, Damien gathers over the rubber, works downhill, and fields his position well. He creates arm side run on his fastball and has a 10-4 break on his curve ball. He needs to continue to separates on time and drive his leg toward the plate. Damien will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.
