11/06/2016 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Dan continues to make the necessary adjustments to better himself as a talented, young C and 3B. Behind the dish, he showed quiet actions that helped him receive and frame pitches well, as well as block and deaden pitches in the dirt. Hips and feet work well together on balls in the dirt, as he showed fine blocking mechanics. His arm is accurate and quick, and to round out his game behind the dish, Dan can benefit from long tossing to improve his arm strength. At 3B, he played through each ball athletically, as he worked from left to right and fielded each ball in the center of his body with his momentum moving towards 1st base. Offensively, he sprayed the ball to all fields, as he showed good balance and rhythm throughout his swing and a soft and on time stride that worked in conjunction with his hands, that stayed back well. Only a 2019 graduate, Dan continues to grow as a player and has a bright future ahead of him on the diamond.

05/08/2016 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Dan continues to show as a C/3B who has a promising future on the diamond. He continues to show improvements in his baseball tools. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, Hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Receiving / blocking skills will continue to improve as he develops and get more reps. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved as well, displaying smooth / fluid actions. He works to get around balls and moves well laterally, flashing range. Hands are soft / clean as he presents on time. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup with rhythm. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory National Spring Training at Pirate City Dan is a very hard worker who brings his all to the field everyday. He has a high baseball IQ and shows his love for the game every time he steps onto the diamond. Behind the dish, he sits in with a solid base and tracks pitches into a soft mitt. He has a smooth transfer/exchange and makes accurate throws down to 2B - pop times of 2.20. Gaining more ground and utilizing his lower 1/2 more to throw will help to strengthen throws and lower pop times. As a hitter - Dan shows a square setup with excellent balance and a strong base. He has fluid rhythm and gets loaded. He swings on a short/direct path barreling the ball up with some pop when centered. Clancy (2019 grad) has the makings of a special type of player. He has the makeup and determination to improve and take his skills to the next level.

11/01/2015 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Dan is a young, R/R, 2-way player as a C/3B. With the bat, this RHH shows a square setup with centered balance and active hands. He has a middle of the field approach whipping the barrel to and through the zone. He likes the pitch on the inner 1/2 and pulls it with some pop. Creating more extension through contact will result in increased power. Behind the dish - Dan sits in well and presents a low target. Quick footwork aid in his lateral movement around pitches in the dirt. Throws to 2B are accurate with pop times of 2.35. Gaining more ground and staying low to throw will help to take his skills behind the plate to the next level. At the hot corner, Dan has active footwork and squares up to the GB. He funnels smoothly and has a clean exchange to throw. Presenting his glove earlier and fielding the GB more out in front will help to avoid getting the in-between hop. A 2019 grad - Dan has tools with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
