Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

01/15/2016 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Dan continues to shine on the diamond, showing at 3B and on the mound for the first time at Preseason All American event. In the IF, he is a polished defender with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. Actions are smooth / clean as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying outstanding power in his swing. Hands are quick (95 exit velocity) and works to stay inside the ball, displaying gap to gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 80-86 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Changeup shows good arm side run but slows arm speed, tipping pitch to hitters. Dan is a sure player to follow and will get looks with his baseball abilities.

12/27/2014 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Pruit continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with the makings of a special type player at the next level with a very projectable body. At the plate is where he has improved the most, displaying solid hitting abilities with superior power potential through a balanced setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows great barrel accuracy as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields, displaying gap to gap pop. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more efficiently and builds overall body strength. At the event, he was 3 for 9 with a 2B. and 3B. Once on base, he shows great instincts and will take the extra base. At 3B, he displays active / aggressive feet as he attacks balls, displaying clean hands. He moves well laterally, displaying range. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents hands more out front. Throws are accurate with life and carry across the diamond, displaying outstanding arm strength. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable, works hard to be the best player he can be, and is a great teammate.

09/21/2014 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Dan is a skilled 3B who has a strong build (6'4"/220). Defensively, he shows active footwork and puts himself into a square fielding position. He picks out the hops, gathers well, and fires strong (85 mph) throws across the diamond. Playing through the ball more will help to improve accuracy on throws. With the bat, Pruitt shows a balanced setup with a solid base. He connects and drives the ball as he likes the pitch on the inner 1/2. More extension through contact will result in increased power. Only a 2017 grad - Dan will continue to improve as he is one to keep an eye on over the next few years.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
