05/12/2019 - National Tryout Plus - San Antonio, TX Dane continues to shine and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.25 with accuracy and on line zip (90 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He tracks the ball well and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. Fastball shows a range of 82-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with downward break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard resembling fastball. He throws a slider that resembles breaking ball. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches.

10/07/2018 - College PREP - Georgetown, TX Dane is a tall, strong C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he utilizes his feet well in working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.17-2.31 with accuracy and zip (88 mph velocity) on his throws. He displays a soft glove and sticks balls well in the zone. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering ball out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through a squared / crouched setup. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 81-83 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a slider that has tight spin and sharp short break. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Dane has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
