Daniel is an athletic built C/RHP that has projection within his frame. Defensively, he continues to receive with sure hands and confidence. He is a fast twitch guy that has good direction and carry to throw. Offensively, he is athletic and activated in his launch position, driving his lower half through contact with good extension with the barrel. Staying on-time and maintaining a level & direct path will increase consistency and hit ability. On the hill, he threw three pitches, topping out at 81 MPH with his fastball that had run. He spun an 11/5 breaking ball and flashed feel for a CH. Mechanically, he kept his eyes on the target, and had easy actions to deliver. Overall - Blugis is working his way to becoming an intriguing prospect for next level play.

Blugis showed as a catcher as a 3B for the first time and continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, arm strength has improved as he threw his best pop time at 2.11 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy / carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At 3B, feet are active as he works to square balls up and displays soft / clean hands. Actions are fluid and smooth with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process. At the plate, Daniel shows an athletic setup with balance. He shows a solid feel for the barrel through a short / direct swing path. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more.

Dan is a solid catcher who will graduate in 2015. Behind the plate, Dan shows active feet, a low target, and his hands are soft and sure. He has good flexibility, blocks well, and he throws with a short arm actions and accuracy and life to his target. Better angles and an earlier glove will help his already good defense get even better. Offensively, Dan has a square set-up, a proper load, and a short stride. He tracks the ball well, he makes hard contact, and he gets his lower 1/2 through. Hitting numbers can rise if Dan can shorten his swing and improve his rhythm. Only a sophomore now, he will be a player to watch as he gets older.
