06/06/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Southeast Championships 18U Participant Fluid, easy actions both to hit and with the glove. Simple right handed stroke, tracked pitches well and showed the ability to go the other way for solid contact. Solid defender with good hands and arm strength for the left side of the infield.

09/21/2013 - 2013 Under Armour Futures Series East - Jupiter, FL Casals showed fluid defensive actions with soft, sure hands and clean actions. His feet worked well and he maintained his body control well on a variety of plays. His arm stroke was short and it worked well to release throws with some carry across the infield. At the plate, he showed good hand-eye coordination in his ability to deliver the barrel to contact consistently. His stroke is short, works through the zone level, and he has good bat speed. Is a line drive type hitter at this point with the flash of gap power. He ran 7.00 in the 60 yard dash, and posted 4.44 from home to first.

06/12/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One Florida Casals has an athletic frame with a high waist. He posted 6.91 in the 60 yard dash, an improvement of a quarter second of what we saw in January 2013, and even more impressive was the 4.20 he ran down the line from the right side of the plate. Defensively, he showed fluid easy actions with great body control. His glove stayed in good positions, and his footwork was solid through the play on the ball into the release. He moved well both ways, and made all the plays look easy. At the plate, he featured good rhythm to hit along with a balanced approach. His stroke was short and compact, and he got solid line drives with little effort or strain. He let the ball travel deep and stayed quiet with his head and eyes, the combination resulting in barrel accuracy and consistent line drives up the middle and the other way. Overall, a talented young player with usable tools and a great feel for the game.

01/18/2013 - 2013 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Daniel is a young middle infielder with a good build. Defensively, he has sure/firm hands and covers ground laterally. His arm strength will continue to improve and enable even further range, when he utilizes his feet to throw. At the dish, he has a square set up and a quiet approach. With some fundamental corrections - loosening his grip and implementing a load - Daniel will show great advances in his hit ability. Overall, the young shortstop/2B has a promising high school career ahead of him and will be a strong prospect with further development.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
