12/06/2015 - College PREP - Crowley, TX Cole continues to impress. At SS, he has quick/active footwork working fluidly around the GB from right to left. Exchange is smooth with strong/accurate throws across the diamond. At the plate, Daniel steps into the box with a purpose. Hands are quick as he engages his lower 1/2 creating torque - resulting in power. He squares the ball up and drives it to the deep parts of the park. On the mound, Daniel has sound mechanics and repeats his delivery well. FB has tail as he fills up the zone with strikes. Changeup shows sink as he works to keep it down in the zone - which will result in GB outs. Daniel is a talented prospect who will garner attention from colleges with his athleticism and versatility on the diamond.

01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament This talented 2-way player continues to shine on the diamond. With the bat, he displays a simple approach with rhythm in his hands. Strong bat leverage allows for hard contact off of his barrel. He hits the ball where it's pitched with the ability to use the entire field. At SS, Cole shows active prep with plus lateral movements working quickly to the GB to his right and left. He stays low through the ball with a quick transfer/exchange to throw. On the bump, Daniel has a repeatable delivery with 4 effective pitches. Arm works freely as he drives downhill toward the dish. FB now tops out at 86 mph while showing tail. He works to keep the ball down in the zone and throws strikes consistently. This versatile player has a ton of upside and is fun to watch. Only a 2017 grad - he is one to keep an eye on over the next few years.

06/14/2014 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Daniel displayed strong ability on both sides of the ball at the Omaha National World Series. At short, he made plays by being aggressive to go get the ball, working around and fielding with soft hands. He had a quick exchange, quick release, and overall smooth mechanics. Increasing his backhand efficiency with his feet and gaining ground to throw will enable higher level play at short. Offensively, he hit with an aggressive approach, delivering the barrel on a level path down to contact. He was coordinated with his hands and hips and generated good bat speed, driving the ball. Maintaining his balance and being more selective with the pitches he offers at will increase hit ability and power potential. In all - Daniel is a coachable guy that is easy to work with and has good potential as he matures. He will be one to watch as he gets older for sure.

02/23/2014 - College PREP - Waco, TX Daniel is a lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2017 and has a ton of potential at both positions. At the plate is where he shows best displaying outstanding hitting / power grades through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating plus bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, displaying gap to gap pop. At SS, feet are active / aggressive as he attacks ground balls, playing through well with his body. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot speed / quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 79-84 mph with late life on a slight downhill plane. Changeup is his best off speed pitch, showing a tremendous feel for with arm side run and will get outs at the next level. Slider displays 11/5 shape with late break. Command / control are outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to bot side of the plate. With 2 years to further develop, Daniel has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
