Official Scouting Report

07/10/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Daniel is a catching prospect who already shows leadership qualities behind the plate along with high upside. He really shines defensively and is a wall behind the plate, letting nothing get by him. He has a god feel for catching, working around the ball to receive and sticking pitches. He also shows quick feet and a direct transfer to show off his accurate arm. At the plate, Daniel is a switch hitter with a middle approach. He has a strong lower half and a direct bat path to hit line drives. He does a good job of getting separation and extending through the zone. Keeping his hands back longer will lead to more consistent contact and a better ability to react to offspeed pitches. Daniel will be an exciting player to follow more as he continues to develops.

11/05/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Daniel is a switch hitting catcher who has a high baseball IQ. With the bat, he currently shows slightly more natural from the right side. He has smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. Hands are quick as he jumps on pitches he likes, barreling the ball up and driving it to all parts of the field. Behind the dish, Dickinson sits in well and presents a target. He moves well laterally and smothers pitches in the dirt, centering the ball off of his chest. Exchange is clean with accurate throws down to 2B - pop times os 2.91. Pop times will continue to drop as he quickens his exchange and strengthens his arm. Daniel is a solid toolset with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
