09/13/2015 - College PREP - La Verne (Los Angeles), CA Daniel is a big, strong RHP/1B that will graduate in 2017 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. He utilizes his athletic feet well in his lateral movements, displaying range. Footwork around the bag is outstanding and he is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He throws a knuckleball that flashes as a potential as a quality pitch, displaying tumbling action. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program and works to throw more strikes. With 2 years to further develop, Daniel has the makings of a special type player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
