03/22/2009 - College PREP - Providence, RI Daniel is a catcher with a tall, solid frame that shows projection as it continues to physically mature and adds muscle mass. Foot speed is near average and he utilizes his feet in showing solid lateral movement through the blocking process. Blocking skills are slightly average as he centers the baseball with his body. Receiving skills are average and needs further polish to be effective at the next level. Arm strength is average and must get on a strict long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength and lowering pop times. His throws are accurate and pop times will drop with more arm strength, plus foot work to throw. At the plate, Jones has average abilities and power. He flashes bat speed but has mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching full potential. Hitting grades and power numbers will improve quickly with instruction and adjustments at the plate. Daniel has abilities with room to continue to develop and approach.
