Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Daniel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate he has improved his power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. He has strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with 3 2B. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-73 mph. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 4 years to further develop, Daniel has the makings of a special type player with time and room to progress his game.

05/29/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Jupiter, FL Daniel is a big, solid 1B/RHP. Defensively at 1B, his big frame allows for an easy target. He fields GB's with a soft glove and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. On the mound, this righty has good tempo as he delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action. He works his pitches down in the zone keeping his eyes locked in and stays directional towards home plate. With the stick, Daniel sets up square in the box and gets back into a load. He takes hard hacks through the zone and drives pitches with pop to his pull side. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Get square on GB's
3. Play through the ball
Pitching
1. Get to a balance point
2. Develop off speed
3. Use more lower 1/2
Offense
1. Front foot timing
2. Improve bat speed
3. Level out bat path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
