His feet are aggressive as he attacks and plays through balls with his body. He moves well laterally, displaying range in the middle infield. His hands are soft, clean, and sure, as he shows an outstanding glove action. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds and turns of the double play as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. His throws are accurate with carry through a quick release. Offensively, Montoya shows a solid setup with hands working direct to the baseball. He tracks balls well as he works to keep his hands and the barrel through the ball at contact, displaying extension. Barrel accuracy is a plus as he shows strength in his swing with baseball jumping off his bat when centered. At the event, he was 3 for 6 with a 2B. Daniel is an outstanding defender with plus abilities at the plate as he will get a lot of looks from the collegiate coaches.
