Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/LHPPosition Projection

06/18/2016 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Daniel is a very talented 2-way prospect who plays the game the right way. He is very coachable and makes adjustments quickly. In the box, this LHH 1B shows fluid rhythm and timing with his hands waiting for a pitch he likes. He has centered balance and a quiet head, keeping his eyes behind the baseball which allow him to extend through the baseball and spray it to all parts of the field. Defensively, Daniel shows efficient footwork as he presents glove early and works around to field with soft hands. His arm stroke fits his position as he shows he can change angles well. He has good bag awareness and can adjust to inaccurate throws. On the mound, this southpaw is aggressive and fearless as he attacks the strike zone with FB command and fast tempo. Daniel shows on time separation with his hands as he gathers over the rubber and gets downhill into a controlled landing and good rotation allowing for extension through his target. His FB sat 80 MPH, with the ability to show a 2-seam (arm side tail) and 4-seam (heavy). His CB sat at 66 MPH with the ability to throw for a strike in get me over counts. Overall, Daniel is a solid prospect who has the tools that will translate well into the next level of play.

06/13/2015 - Omaha National World Series - Session 1 Daniel is a thick, solid 1B/LHP that will graduate in 2016 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at 1B for the next level. At the plate is where he shows best through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, generating bat speed and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve as he works to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. At the event, he was 5 for 9 with 2 2B and 3 BB as he displays a solid eye at the plate. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a solid receiver, displaying clean hands. He works to square ground balls up and makes the routine plays. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents hands more out front and increases foot quickness. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 77-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program, develops better off speed, and works to throw more strikes. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays hard. Daniel has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
