Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

01/25/2008 - Pre-Season Invitational Tournament - 2008 Tabor is a long, lean two-way player with lots of room to fill into his body. He showed great bat speed at times, and has potential leverage in his right handed stroke. Must work to stay closed longer and taller with his lower half through contact to allow his body rotation to help generate more power in his stroke. In the infield, he tended to play a bit high - must work to stay in a more athletic position from setup through the play on the ball. His release was quick at times, and his arm was solid across the infield. On the mound, he was mostly around the plate. Gathered well to his balance point, and showed good arm action. He tended to open his front side early - which, much like at the plate, did not allow his bigger muscles to help generate speed out front. Overall, he has potential to develop his skills further and to add strength and size onto his young frame.

01/28/2007 - College PREP - San Diego, CA Daniel shows good lateral range and glove extension in the infield. Actions at 3B are very easy. Arm strength needs to improve to stay on that side of the diamond at the next level. Offensively, he does a good job of using the whole field. Pre-pitch work is solid, and his extension and plane are decent. Foot gets down late which hurts his balance. Would like to see him get that foot down earlier and use the lower half to generate some more batspeed. Shows average stuff and pitchability on the mound. Sling-type delivery. Those slinging actions flatten out his fastball, hurt his direction, and cut off his extension. Would like to see him get his body working in a straight line so he can get a better downhill plane on the fastball.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
