  • OF/RHPPosition Projection

12/09/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Daniel showed in the OF and on the mound for the first time at the event. In the OF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft and he presents well, utilizing two hands through the process. Throws are accurate with zip (90 mph velocity) and on line carry through his target. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick (81 mph exit velocity) and work to and through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power is best shown from the left side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 78-80 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch. He throws a split finger pitch that displays good sinking action. Control is well above average as throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/19/2018 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Daniel showed well again both at the plate and in the OF. He is currently better hitting from the left side, but can switch hit well. From the left, Daniel has an athletic stance, an aggressive swing, and he uses his lower body. He swings in good rhythm, has a level stroke, and can spray to all fields. From the right side, Daniel has a solid base, an aggressive swing, and he works the middle of the field. He makes square contact and shows good bat speed. Defensively, Daniel has loose actions, he fields in a low position, and has soft hands. He has a loose arm and throws with accuracy to his target.

12/10/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Daniel showed well in the OF during his last workout in Nyack. Arm grade improved again to 52. Feet are efficient; he centers the ball well, and fields in a square position. He has good pre-pitch actions, gets on top of his throws, and delivers the ball with accuracy and good carry to his target. Offensively, Daniel again showed the ability to switch hit. From the left he showed a level path, good balance, and solid use of his lower body. From the right, Daniel can hit to all fields, he has a square set-up, and a direct barrel to the ball.

08/19/2017 - College PREP - West Harrison (NYC), NY Daniel improved arm grade and velocity during his last workout. Velocity was clocked at 85 MPH and arm grade improved to 48. Defensively, Daniel showed good actions to the ball, he reads it off the bat well, and he fields ground balls cleanly. He has a long/loose arm action with carry and strength to his target. Offensively, Daniel shows best from the right side currently. He has a smooth/strong swing, proper separation, and he stays inside the ball well. From the left he makes consistent contact, is short to the ball, and swings on plane.

02/20/2017 - National Tryout Plus - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Daniel continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved, now showing well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.28. In the OF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. He utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles and utilizes two hands well through the fielding process. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive approach. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach.

12/11/2016 - National Tryout Plus - Nyack (NYC), NY Daniel continues to show steady progress in his baseball abilities. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind but will benefit by playing through balls more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At 3B, he works to square balls up. Feet are active but will benefit by attacking balls more and play through with his body. Hands are soft / clean but needs to present more out front. Throws are accurate with carry across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to show as a switch hitter with similar abilities from both sides. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently.

09/10/2016 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 14-18) Daniel is a switch hitter who shows and aggressive approach at the plate. He sets up in a square, athletic stance and is fluid getting back into his load. He comes through the zone with decent bat speed, driving the ball to his pull side. Taking a more direct route to the ball and using a more square stride will lead to more consistent contact. Overall, Daniel is a solid hitter from both sides of the plate who has the time and potential to further develop his skills.

07/16/2016 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition - Session 2 Daniel is a lean 3B who will graduate in 2019. At 3B, feet are active / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through a low approach. Hands / feet work well together through the fielding process. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he presents glove more out front and increases foot quickness. At the plate he shows a squared / athletic setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 3 years to further develop, Daniel has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
