Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/18/2019 - 2019 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Danny continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are soft / sure and he showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, saving throws. Feet / hands work well together as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (91 mph exit velocity) generating bat speed through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and shows a plus feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 84-86 mph with sinking action. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for pitch. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Danny has a ton of potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

10/10/2018 - Arizona Senior Fall Classic Danny is an athletic and talented 2019 2-way prospect. At 1B, Danny starts in an athletic position, presents a low/early glove, and is on time with his prep step. He works well off the bag, and has a quick first step to the ball. At the plate, Danny starts in a tall stance, loads his hands back, and keeps his head down on the ball. He creates backside rotation with his lower half and shows the ability to drive the ball gap to gap. On the bump, Danny, gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and has a loose arm action. He works down hill and throws all three pitches for strikes. His fastball tops out at 83, his breaking pitch has late break, and his changeup has slight run. Danny is a competitor and will continue to improve with experience.

07/08/2018 - College PREP - Wichita, KS Danny is a tall, well-built right-handed pitching prospect who has a talented skill set. On the mound, Danny competes on every pitch and locates his full repertoire. He has balanced, on-time mechanics throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He has a clean arm action and extends through his release. He stays square to home plate with a controlled landing and the proper stride length. Danny works downhill and features an above average curveball with good depth. His slider also shows late, sharp break. Offensively, Danny has a square setup and maintains a quiet head. He has smooth rhythm with a square stride as he partially uses his lower half throughout his swing. Danny has an aggressive approach with a long swing path. He produces square contact and has the ability to drive the ball to each gap. Overall, Danny has the right approach with the talent to take his game the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
