Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

11/12/2015 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Dante is a very respectful player who plays the game the right way. He is a very hard worker who brings his all to the field. At 1B, he shows active prep footwork moving well on the balls of his feet. He presents his glove out front, works from the ground-up and secures it with 2-hands. Offensively, he has a balanced setup with patience and good zone awareness (drawing 3 walks at the event). He works to engage his lower 1/2 and generate some pop off of his barrel. On the mound, FB remains in the low 60's. He pounds the zone with strikes and challenges hitters to swing the bat. He works to keep the ball down in the zone which results in GB outs. Getting more glove side lead and finishing with extension will help to improve his abilities on the mound. A young 2022 grad - Dante has tools with a ton of time to develop.

10/17/2015 - Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Dante showed balance and rhythm throughout his stride and load mechanism at the Hitting Accelerated Training Weekend. Dante' hands are activated and he takes a soft and square stride which puts him in a consistent launch position to hit from. Dante take his hands directly to the baseball creating a short, compact stroke as he delivers the barrel into the hitting zone. Keeping the eyes down at contact will give Dante the proper spine angle to allow for more extension through contact which will increase the backspin on the baseball and more pop off the bat. Dante is at his best when allowing the ball to travel deep into the hitting zone and utilizing his short stroke; he should work to avoid creating length in his swing by reaching for pitches before they reach the proper depth. Dante had a quality showing at the event and has many years to continue to improve.

09/27/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Pittsburgh, PA Dante is a young (2022 grad) 2-way player as a 1B/RHP. Defensively, he hustles around the GB and into a low/square fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt and funnels smoothly. He makes the backhand play cleanly and gathers well. As a hitter - Dante has rhythm in his hands as he maintains good balance. He takes an aggressive hack and works to engage his lower 1/2. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB & CH from a high 3/4 ant slot. FB shows slight arm-side run (58-62 mph) while showing sink. Changeup has sink as it compliments his FB well. He is quick to the plate and repeats his delivery well. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Footwork around 1B
2. Glove presentation
Offense
1. Extension through contact
2. Increased bat speed
3. Contact points
Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. More lower 1/2 drive
3. More glove-side lead

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
